THE CREATORS
Liza Fernandez, a New York City transplant by way of Canada, Australia and Chile, first met Felix Solis, a native Nuyorican, at the famed Goodman Theatre in Chicago while performing the Midwest premiere of Jose Rivera's Boleros for the Disenchanted in 2009. They came together to create Subway Token Films and wrote their first short film, TINTO, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Since then they’ve produced multiple shorts and are in development with several feature films.
The pulse of this dynamic duo lies at the intersection between Liza's boundless creative energy and Felix's intuitive approach to storytelling. For more visit Felix and Liza. |
SO, WHY SUBWAY TOKEN FILMS?
Subway Token Films is an independent film production company founded in 2012 in order to create work inspired by the working class community, the kind of people we’ve affectionately coined the ‘Everydayers’. From the timeless to the time-sensitive, their rich stories are unique, vital and absolutely universal. Our mission is to honor their lives, and with a tireless creative pursuit, whisk their narratives off the street and onto the screen using our signature secret sauce... the Street Level Miracle.
AND, WHAT'S "STREET LEVEL MIRACLES"?
These miracles aren’t disguised in superhero masks or capes. They are the derailments that happen outside of our control, the curveballs life throws at us that change the course of destiny, and in so doing, pull back the lens, flip our perspective, and place us at the crossroad between who we were and who we will be. Whether hard-hitting and gut-wrenching or gentle and kind -- our Street Level Miracles result in the same outcome: a well-crafted and complex story that hits close to home.
